Sitting by a fire in the back yard with the puppy. Thankfully they have turned the lights off at the stadium, so I can imagine that I'm sitting on a beach somewhere with a driftwood fire. Not that I've ever done that or that anyone ever does that other than in crappy movies. But, at any rate, I've got more than just the glow of the computer monitor in front of me.
Today I managed to get one of the dead trees down in the back yard... without killing anyone or destroying the fence or Desmond's clubhouse. It took some redneck engineering to do it. Rope, ratcheting tie downs, strategically-timed pulling on the rope... when the wind picked up... But it was nervous-going for a while.
Desmond was a big help with pulling branches from the neighbor's yard for burning. He's working toward an allowance. The other day when he was helping me, he asked if he could earn some money. I said sure... He said, "I call dibs on two dollars." Calling "dibs" is a big deal for him right now.
Pteddy – the pup – is trying to compete with the laptop for the surface of my lap at the moment. Either that, or he has something he'd like to type in here.
And now the thunder makes itself known. Supposed to have high winds and some rain and thunderstorms tonight. I know it will rain if I have my laptop open out here. I'm insuring that our garden is watered.
Hey. Lightning. Cool.
Well, dangit. Guess I'm gonna have to head inside and work. Was a good little diversion while it lasted.
